The Wild United played well but still dropped a 3-1 decision to Deforest in a makeup game Sunday, and remained winless (0-15-0).
"We played really hard and had our chances, but we couldn't put the puck away," Wild United coach Pete Koszarek said. "This was a much closer game than we have played in a while. We worked very hard, but in the end our lack of numbers is what did us in.
"With only 10 players we have to go up against teams with 20 players, and it makes it very difficult to keep up after the second period. But I do give our guys a lot of credit for working hard all the way to the last whistle."
The Deforest Norskies scored two first-period goals, but were blanked in the second period. Wild United scored a power-play goal by Stephen Dahl with assists going to Ryan Regeth and Ben Christie in that period to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Wild United then held the Norskies scoreless until the last minute of the game when the locals pulled their goalie, hoping to tie the game. But Deforest scored on an open net with 19 seconds left.
"(Goalkeeper) Matt Ranta once again defended triple the shots that we took," Koszarek said.
