The Wauwatosa West boys bounced back and beat Shorewood, 77-48, Friday following a disappointing 62-56 overtime loss to New Berlin West on Jan. 5.
The Trojans, playing without exciting freshman Anthony Carroll, who sat out due to complications from oral surgery earlier in the week, crushed the Greyhounds at Shorewood (2-6, 2-8) as senior guard Sam Krenzien led the way with 17 points.
Tosa West coach Mike Landisch played 13 players, and 12 of them got on the scoreboard, including Winston Wynn, a 6-foot-1 junior forward who had 11 points. Ray Sterling added nine points, and Barry Ballinger and A.J. Krause added eight points apiece.
The Trojans doubled up the Greyhounds, jumping off to a 38-19 lead at intermission. Even in the second half, Tosa West outscored Shorewood, 39-29, playing with second-teamers.
Against New Berlin West, the Trojans led 15-13 after one quarter and 39-38 after three but missed an easy backdoor play that could have won the game in regulation.
Carroll led the Trojans with 18 points, while Sterling had 13, Ashley Jarvis 10 and Krenzien eight.
"We have yet to play a complete game," Landisch said. "At times we have been playing the way we should be playing, but we go through difficult phases.
"We want to run and push the ball. This is a talented, young team if we can play like we are capable of. We are not big, so we have to do it with quickness."
The Trojans play at Greenfield at 7:30 p.m. Friday in league play before playing crosstown rival Wauwatosa East at Tosa East at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in their annual battle.
