The Wauwatosa East/West co-op team finished fifth out of 14 teams at the Sauk Prairie Tournament on Saturday after beating the Rockets at South Milwaukee, 46-27, Jan. 6 in Woodland Conference action.
The win against the Rockets improved Tosa's league record to 3-2 and 10-5 overall in dual meets.
Mike Meade at 135 pounds (1 minutes, 34 seconds), Kevin Kanngieser at 285 (1:38) and Cory Jay at 160 (3:20) led the way by pinning their opponents.
Demetrious Mensah at 125 won on a technical fall (23-7, 5:51), as did Ryan Reagan at 140 (15-0, 5:15).
Dylan Kissinger at 152 won by decision (7-2), as did Ian Seybold at 171 (14-7). Brian Condon at 103 and Riley O'Conor at 130 each won by forfeit.
"The guys really turned it up on Saturday," Tosa coach Kent Morin said. "We were missing two starters to illness, Ian Seybold and Max Nelson. Of our remaining 12 wrestlers, 10 of them scored team points by finishing in the top eight."
Mensah continued his winning ways by taking first at Sauk Prairie, improving his record to 26-2. He is ranked 11th in the state.
"He just continues to amaze me with his takedowns and his focus," Morin said.
Reagan had a great day, finishing second, winning a thrilling semifinals matchup against Eric McFarland of Kettle Moraine in overtime, 6-4.
"He is really starting to establish himself as a wrestler that the area is going to have to worry about come the end-of-the-year tournament time," Morin said.
O'Conor finished tied for third because the actual third-place match couldn't be wrestled - it would have exceeded the WIAA maximum of five matches in a day for his opponent.
Kanngieser took fourth, winning an exciting double overtime win in his wrestleback match, and Meade took fifth, winning his wrestleback when he scored a takedown with one second left for a 2-1 win.
"Michael is so close to turning the corner," Morin said. "His hard work and dedication is going to get rewarded. You can't work that hard and not have more success."
Condon also took fifth, earning two wins by pins, while Richie Benish and Scott Kamholtz were seventh, and Patrick Campbell and Jonathan Tripi finished eighth.
"Overall, it was a great day," Morin said. "This is a tough tournament that last year we took 11th place at. Hopefully, this will be the launching point for success the rest of this season.
"Our young guys are starting to grow up. Their hard work and dedication is starting to get rewarded."
