Women's tackle football to hold clinic, tryouts Jan. 16

The 2009 Independent Women's Football League North American champion Wisconsin Warriors, will hold its final free woman-only football clinic Jan. 16.

The Warriors, a women's tackle football team, will hold a clinic from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Bloechl Fitness Center on the Mount Mary College campus. No experience or equipment is necessary. Participants should bring workout clothes, gym shoes, and proof of age (age 18 or older) and insurance.

Those interested can try out for the team after the clinic. There is a $25 tryout fee.

Trojans baseball spaghetti fundraiser set for Jan. 31

The second annual Wauwatosa West Baseball Club spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Highway 100 and Watertown Plank Road.

There will be a silent auction, raffles, door prizes and cash bar as money is raised for the Trojans baseball program. A 5 p.m. social/cocktail hour will be followed by a buffet spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m.

The guest speaker will be George Koonce, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletics director and a member of the 1996 Super Bowl Packers. He is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets will be $12 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger.
