U13-14 Junior Raiders set baseball tryouts

Baseball players in seventh and eighth grades can try out for the Wauwatosa East Junior Raider organization's 2010 season from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and 27 at Breitlow Field, 121st Street and North Avenue.

Players should plan on attending both of the tryouts.

The Junior Raider baseball teams play in the Wisconsin State League, which is comprised of teams from surrounding communities.

The teams will play a competitive 20-game schedule, plus tournaments. The season begins May 1 and ends July 31.

Players attending the tryouts must live or attend school in the Wauwatosa East attendance area and be planning on attending Wauwatosa East High School. Contact Tom Klein at (414) 254-5935 or at tklein2@wi.rr.com if you have questions.

Tosa Kicks U16 girls have busy start

The Tosa Kicks U16 girls team had a successful start to the fall soccer season, losing in the finals of the SC Waukesha August Fest Classic, held Aug. 21 to 23, and the Hartford SC Kick Some Grass Tournament, held Aug. 28 to 30.

The girls were 0-1-2 in pool play at the SC Waukesha August Fest Classic, but lost in the finals to the Red Star Soccer Club, 3-0. They then went 3-0 in pool play at Hartford before losing to United after two overtimes, 9-8, on penalty kicks.

Leading scorers for the two tournaments were Eimile Pesch (6), Jackie Bagelman (4), Amanda Babler (2), Maddie Packard (2) and Jenna Engel (2). Daisy Wedel, Packard and Lauren Jaworwicz provided excellent goalie support.
