Wauwatosa - A parent has lost his bid to attach "Hug & Go Zone" signs to "No Parking" signs outside of Madison Elementary School.
The parent, Jason Kauflin, said Tuesday that he hasn't decided whether to try an alternative proposal or to just drop his effort.
Kauflin wanted the hug signs on the east side of N. 100th St., where many parents drop off their children in the morning. Because some parents park along the street, despite the city's no-parking signs, he thought the hug-and-go message might help keep traffic flowing.
But the city public works director rejected the request, saying the message would confuse some motorists. And on Monday the city Board of Public Works upheld the denial, saying it didn't want to create a precedent.
