Two 14-year-old Wauwatosa boys were arrested for theft after they allegedly took a purse from a shopping cart while the owner was loading groceries into her car at Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., at 9:05 a.m. May 4.
According to a Wauwatosa Police Department report:
The boys grabbed the purse and ran, and the woman took off after them, dialing 911 as she ran. They dropped the purse before they entered an apartment complex on St. James Court.
An officer driving in the area saw two boys matching their descriptions walking in the 7100 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They said they had spent the night at their grandmother's and had to go home to get ready for school so they were truant. Later, they said they ran home to change out of what they had been wearing when they took the purse.
