The body of man discovered in a river in DeKalb, Illinois was identified Monday as that of a Wisconsin man missing since December.
According to DeKalb police, the body of James C. VerDuin was found in the Kishwaukee River near Hopkins Park at 2:45 p.m. Sunday.
VerDuin, who was found by a passerby, appeared to have been in the river for several weeks, according to a press release from the DeKalb Police Department.
No foul play was suspected, according to the release.
VerDuin, a researcher at the Medical College of Wisconsin, was last seen Christmas Day at a Best Western motel in the DeKalb area, where he was taken after a traffic crash that disabled his vehicle.
According to DeKalb police, VerDuin's family said he had lived in Wauwatosa but moved to West Allis shortly before he went missing.
VerDuin would have turned 56 on Dec. 27, according to his family.
