1A home in the 6100 block of Washington Boulevard was entered and a tablet computer taken from its kitchen counter between 8 a.m. July 13 and 4 p.m. July 16. The homeowner said she thought she had lost the $600 tablet and waited for it to turn up before filling out the police report. She believes her husband left the door to her home unlocked, allowing a burglar in.
2A laptop computer, cellphone charger and computer power cord were stolen from a room at Extended Stay, 11121 W. North Ave., between 12:30 and 11 p.m. Aug. 7. A hole was ripped into the window screen. Total loss is estimated at $760.
3A home in the 200 block of North 111th Street was broken into via a window and multiple items taken from it between 1 and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7. Cash, jewelry, an ebook reader, DVDs and video games were stolen, amounting to a total loss of $8,809.
4A detached garage in the 2600 block of North 82nd Street was entered and a bicycle, helmet and pocket knife were taken from it between 10 p.m. Aug. 7. and 7 a.m. Aug. 8. Total loss is estimated at $465.
5A gas-powered lawn trimmer was taken from an unlocked garage in the 2500 block of North 82nd Street between 6 p.m. Aug. 9 and 7:45 p.m. Aug. 11. Total loss is estimated at $200.
6A laptop computer and four credit cards were taken from a home in the 10000 block of West Lisbon Avenue between 10:30 a.m. Aug. 10 and 1:40 p.m. Aug. 12. The burglars climbed to the second story and entered through a sliding glass door. They used the credit cards at three businesses. Total loss is estimated at $1,235.
7An air conditioner was pushed in, allowing people to burglarize Sherbrooke, 6715 W. North Ave., between 3:15 and 8 a.m. Aug. 11. A redacted amount of cash was taken from the business.
8A home in the 2600 block of North Harding Boulevard was entered via a sun room window and a computer and television were taken from it between 2:30 and 9:45 p.m. Aug. 11. Total loss is estimated at $3,799.
9A bicycle was taken from an open garage in the 2400 block of North 61st Street between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 13. Total loss is estimated at $900.
· A woman reported someone used her identity to file a false tax return and start a fraudulent credit card in her name between April 1 and Aug. 7. She received a call on Aug. 7 from a fraud department owned by an online pay site stating someone created an account using her information to make fraudulent purchases.
· A woman reported someone forged one of her checks for $200 at noon on July 29. The woman found the check had been forged when she tried making a payment for rent.
10Multiple tools were taken from a locked storage unit in the 1400 block of Martha Washington Drive between 11 p.m. July 29 and 10 a.m. Aug. 8. Fifteen power tools, a bicycle and several small tools were taken, amounting to a total loss of $2,120.
11Two personal checks were taken from a resident of St. Camillus Senior Center, 10101 W. Wisconsin Ave., between 2 and 3 p.m. Aug. 6. The thief tried cashing the checks at two banks in Milwaukee but failed.
12A 2005 Toyota Highlander was taken from a home in the 2400 block of North 65th Street between 8 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7:20 a.m. Aug. 7. There was no glass on the ground and the vehicle's owner had both sets of keys. Total loss is estimated at $18,500.
· A man reported someone used his credit card information to make a $93 purchase in New York at 6:31 p.m. Aug. 7.
13A purse, phone, jewelry, cash and keys were taken from an unlocked car in the 600 block of North 65th Street between 10 p.m. Aug. 7 and 9 a.m. Aug. 8. The owner said she was with a friend and forgot to lock her car or take her purse out of it. Total loss is estimated at $1,170.
14A GPS was stolen from an unlocked van in the 7300 block of Maple Terrace between 7 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 a.m. Aug. 8. Total loss is estimated at $200.
15A pair of $300 sunglasses was taken from Sunglass Hut at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 8:02 p.m. Aug. 7
16A woman whose credit card was stolen out of her vehicle in West Allis reported someone used her credit cards at Target, 3900 N. 124th St. and Home Depot, 4800 N. 124th St. at 8:39 p.m. Aug. 7. Two credit cards were used to make four transactions at the stores, amounting in a total loss of $1,452.
17A 2012 GMC Acadia was taken from a driveway in the 2200 block of North 69th Street between 10 p.m. Aug. 7 and 6:07 a.m. Aug. 8. No glass was found on the scene and the owner had both keys. Total loss is estimated at $30,000. The vehicle was found in Milwaukee, locked and in drivable condition, but appeared to have been involved in a sideswipe. A tablet computer and cellphone were taken from the vehicle, amounting to a total loss of $1,250.
18A 14-year-old boy was arrested for curfew violation and possession of stolen property when he and his two friends, ages 14 and 15, were found rummaging through cars at North Delco and West Ruby Avenues at 1:34 a.m. Aug. 8. The boy had a stolen cellphone valued at $329 on him when he was arrested.
19A vehicle had its window smashed in and a purse taken from it at the Currie Park Golf Course, 3535 N. Mayfair Road, between 10:20 and 10:48 a.m. Aug. 8. The vehicle owner's credit card was in the purse and used to make $1,735 in fraudulent transactions before it was canceled. Total damage to the vehicle and amount of items taken is estimated at $468.
20A pair of $130 sunglasses was taken from Solstice at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, between 2:20 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 8.
21A Milwaukee man was arrested for taking a pair of sunglasses from Solstice and Lens Crafters, each at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 4:39 p.m. Aug. 8. He was caught trying to take a bus away from the mall. The two pairs of sunglasses amounted to a total loss of $580.
22A purse was taken from an employee break room at Pier One, 2545 N. Mayfair Road, between 5:10 and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 8. The break room's door was left unlocked. The purse had credit cards, cash, an iPod, car keys and a driver's license in it. Total loss is estimated at $350. The woman's credit card was used at a BP Gas station for $142.
23Three tons of scrap metal were stolen from the Harwood bridge construction project at 7735 Harwood Ave. between 6 p.m. Aug. 8 and 10:45 a.m. Aug. 9. The metal consisted of rusty C-joints about 5X6 inches. The project manager said a full-size truck or larger would have been needed to take the joints, valued between $300 and $500. He was worried the same people would come back and take the bridge railings, which are worth $250,000.
24A wallet was stolen from a Wauwatosa man and the credit cards were unsuccessfully used at the Home Depot, 4100 N. 124th St. and Clark Gas Station, 717 N. Mayfair Road, at 8:43 p.m. Aug. 8. It was successfully used at a Shell gas station, where the card user's license plate was found. Police are following up on the card user. Total loss is estimated at $55.
25Patio furniture was taken from a yard in the 1200 block of Elm Lawn some time on Aug. 9. The owners think it may have been taken by trash collectors because it was close to the curb. Total loss is estimated at $350.
26A cellphone was stolen from an employee of Lids at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, while he was working at 3 p.m. Aug. 9. A person was filling out an application on an embroidery machine that was hiding the phone, walked out without finishing the application and is thought to have taken a store pen as well as the phone. Total loss is $600.
27Two boys were arrested for taking a package from a home in the area of Upper Parkway North and Washington Boulevard at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 9. They took five pieces of underwear and a knife from the home, amounting to a total of $141. Their names, ages and communities were redacted from the report.
28A man stole 17 bottles of liquor from Pick 'n Save, 1717 N. Mayfair Road, between 7:40 and 8:17 p.m. Aug. 9. He took a crate from the produce section, filled it with the 17 bottles, hung around the store for 45 minutes and then exited through the back door and a loading dock. Total loss is estimated at $450.
29A window was shattered and laptop stolen from a vehicle in the 2400 block of Pasadena Boulevard between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10. Total loss is estimated at $1,870. Police later found the laptop at a pawn shop in Milwaukee.
30A 2006 Nissan Murano was stolen from a home in the 2700 block of North 76th Street between 8:30 and 11 a.m. Aug. 10. The owner had the vehicle's keys on her and there was no signs it was forcibly entered. Loss is estimated at $6,000.
31A woman was arrested for taking $163 in makeup from Sephora at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 6:51 p.m. Aug. 10. She was with her 3-year-old and said she was going to pay for the items, but her child ran out of the store, making her follow him. She put the items in her handbag.
32A purse was taken from a woman while she worked at Elektra Lights and Fans, 7222 W. North Ave., at 1 p.m. Aug. 12. A man later found her purse behind Famous Cigar, 7030 W. North Ave. The purse was missing her wallet, valued at $90. The wallet contained her driver's license, credit cards, $3 in cash and a checkbook.
33An unlocked vehicle was entered but nothing taken from it in the 2200 block of North 64th Street between 7 p.m. Aug. 12 and 7 a.m. Aug. 13.
34A woman and a man were arrested for taking clothing from Gap Kids at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 2:14 p.m. Aug. 13. The two had aluminum foil-lined bags, which they stuffed with 10 items of clothing worth a total of $258. They were caught in the parking lot, where the woman asked if they could be let go if they returned the items.
35A pair of sunglasses was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard between 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 and 7 a.m. Aug. 14.
36A video camera, iPod Touch, school supplies and change were taken from an unlocked car in the 6800 block of Kinsman Street between 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 8:45 a.m. Aug. 14.
37A woman reported someone used her credit card information to make a $382 purchase in Glendale, Calif., at 5:42 p.m. Aug. 14. The purchase was canceled and the woman canceled her credit cards.
Police responded to at least one theft of items valued at less than $100.
38A man was cited for marijuana possession after he was pulled over for a defective brake light in the 6300 block of Garfield Ave. at 1:51 a.m. Aug. 9. As he was looking for his title, the officer saw he had a bag of marijuana in the vehicle's console. He had no prior arrests, a valid driver's license and no other illegal items. Due to high call volume, the officer issued him a citation instead of arresting him. He had .65 grams of marijuana on him.
39A woman was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after she ran a red light at West North Avenue and North 60th Street at 3:17 a.m. Aug. 9. The driver pulled away from police for a few blocks before she was stopped and handcuffed. She said she was leaving a party and had a blood alcohol content of 0.11.
40The door of the old Ponderosa Restaurant building at 3161 N. Mayfair Road was smashed between July 1 and 3 p.m. Aug. 7. The building owner said that whoever bought the building would have to tear it down and rebuild, so it would cost him $300 to board the door up.
41A minivan had its window smashed in the 9700 block of Revere Avenue between 6:45 and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 8. Nothing is missing from inside the van and damage is estimated at $500. Rocks were found around and inside the vehicle.
42A man was arrested after swearing at his neighbors in the 1800 block of Ludington Avenue at 5:55 p.m. Aug. 13. The man was angry about their radio being too loud, which police found was at a reasonable volume level. The man called his neighbors profanities at least 10 times while yelling at them.
