Wauwatosa Police Report: March 12

BURGLARY

1A 10-speed bicycle was stolen from a garage in the 7300 block of St. James Street between December 9 and March 9. Police found an abandoned bicycle worth $25 lying outside the garage. The stolen bicycle is valued at $200.

2A radar detector and other items were stolen from an unlocked garage and unlocked cars in the 4700 block of North 106th Street between 11 p.m. March 5 and 7:10 a.m. March 6. The burglars also broke into a jeep at the home, damaging its window and bringing the total loss to $950.

THEFT

3An 18-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for taking $306 in jeans from Macy's at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 4:26 p.m. March 3.

4A catalytic converter was taken from a vehicle at Chancery, 7615 W. State St., between 7:15 and 8:30 p.m. March 3. Video footage showed a minivan parked next to the victim's vehicle while a train passed. The van drove away shortly after the train left. Damage is estimated at $556.

5A package containing items ordered from Kohl's was taken from the doorstep of a home in the 8000 block of West Wisconsin Avenue at 5:25 p.m. March 4. The homeowner's son saw a man run up to the door, grab the package valued at $50 and run back to a waiting vehicle.

6A 28-year-old Brookfield woman was arrested for taking multiple items from Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road, at 9 p.m. March 4. Among the 29 items stolen were clothing and jewelry worth $946.

7A vehicle's window was smashed and a bag was stolen from it in the 10200 block of West Glendale Avenue between 9 p.m. March 5 and 7 a.m. March 6. Police found a brick lying in the snow next to the vehicle. Damage is estimated at $230.

8 Change worth $4 was taken from an unlocked car in the 4600 block of North 104th Street between 10:30 p.m. March 5 and 6:45 a.m. March 6.

9Change worth $2 was taken from two unlocked vehicles in the 4500 block of North 103rd Street between 4 and 6:45 a.m. March 6. Police advised the man to lock his doors in the future.

10A man stole $300 of bedding from Kmart, 3201 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:22 a.m. March 9. He loaded the items into a cart and walked out the front door.

11A 25-year-old West Allis woman had her purse's contents stolen while she was at Dave and Buster's, 2201 N. Mayfair Road, between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. March 10. The purse contained $300 in cash, several credit and frequent shopper cards and an unknown amount of change.

Police responded to three thefts of items worth less than $100 this week.

DRUG POSSESSION

12A 46-year-old Waukesha man was arrested for drug possession after he crashed into a median in the 11500 block of West Capitol Drive at 1:38 March 7. Police offered to let him sit in their vehicle to get warm and searched him, finding a pipe with a piece of scouring pad stuck in one end and a plastic straw with white powder inside. He said he crashed because he got a text while adjusting his radio.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

13A 29-year-old Brookfield man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after driving through a red light and weaving between lanes at the I-94 and North 84th Street ramp at 11:54 p.m. March 6. When police asked him how much he had to drink, he said he had four beers that were ten percent alcohol and shouldn't be driving. His blood alcohol content was 0.15.

14A 29-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after driving 45 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 6800 block of West Bluemound Road at 2:20 a.m. March 9. She said she was texting while driving and refused a breath test. Blood draw results are pending.

VANDALISM

15A vehicle's windshield was cracked in the 11000 block of West Hadley Street between 8:30 p.m. March 4 and 7 a.m. March 5. Damage is estimated at $395.

16Laundry detergent was poured on the front windows of the Porte Noir nail salon, 6012 W. North Ave., between 8 p.m. March 8 and noon March 9. Police called a suspect, who is the owner's ex-boyfriend, who swore at police. When they said she was getting a restraining order against him, he said a restraining order wouldn't mean anything.

OTHER

17A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for weaving between parking spaces with his vehicle at Mayfair mall, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 7:20 p.m. March 4. He said he was killing time while waiting to pick someone up but had a warrant for operating after suspension from Hartford police.

18A Wauwatosa man living in the 4500 block of North 103rd Street said someone walked through his backyard and opened his shed between 10:30 p.m. March 5 and 5 a.m. March 6. Police tracked the footprints and noticed they wove between several backyards and to front doors of several cars.

A 26-year-old Wauwatosa woman got a call from a Dallas, Texas investigator saying someone had stolen her social security number at 11:22 a.m. March 6. The investigator said that someone tried renting an apartment with her social security number.

19A 29-year-old Milwaukee woman called police after receiving a threatening phone call from her boyfriend while she was at the bus stop on Wauwatosa and West North Avenues at 6:56 a.m. March 7. The man said he wanted the $1 she owed him back and that he would beat her up if she called police.

20Police tried pulling over a white Chrysler Sebring that came up as stolen in the intersection of West Wright and North 56th Streets at 12:02 a.m. March 9. The vehicle took off, blowing through 10 stop signs and nearly hitting a car while going through a stop light. More officers came to collect the fugitives but, after the vehicle went into oncoming traffic to pass a car, police ended the pursuit. The chase lasted a total of four miles and five minutes and hit speeds up to 76 mph.

21A counterfeit $100 bill was passed at Gigi's Cupcakes, 2751 N. Mayfair Road, at 8:56 p.m. March 9. The watermark looked glued on and the money was paper-like. The watermark's face looked like Cee Lo Green.

Police responded to three domestic disturbance calls this week.
