Man drives through block party, arrested for drunken driving

Aug. 31, 2011 | 5 comments

A Wauwatosa man was arrested for a sixth offense of drunken driving after driving through a neighborhood block party where children were playing in the street Saturday, according to a Wauwatosa police report.

Also in the report:

The 45-year-old drove around barricades and through a neighborhood block party being held between 83rd Street and Ludington Avenue at 8 a.m. Saturday.

He drove through the party at about 35 mph as children played in the streets; tables full of food were set up nearby.

When a resident asked the man why he was driving through the party, he said, "You do not want me to get out of this car," and continued on.

Partygoers' wrote down the man's license plate and notified police, who went to man's apartment in the 8600 block of North Avenue and awaited his arrival.

When he arrived home a short time later, the man told police he didn't see the banners or barricades and didn't think twice about it because of all the construction in the area.

He was arrested on suspicion of a sixth offense of drunken driving. He refused to perform field sobriety tests and a sample of his blood was taken to establish his blood-alcohol content.

  1. WTH?! This may be his 6th DUI? How is e still legally Driving?
  2. Had it not been for the crowd yelling and more importantly a mother/grandmother stepping in harms way in front of this moron's vehicle waving her arms to get him to stop, I believe this car would have plowed right through the cluster of umbrella tables where many people were seated. I hope there is a just penalty for this man's lack of concern for the safety of our children and our neighbors.
  3. Dad, not again!!
  4. He was quested as saying sorry osifcer, I am not as think as you drunk I am.
