Teen 'freaks out' at court, caught for prowling later

Sept. 12, 2010

A teen boy who "freaked out" and fled from a hearing at Children's Court was arrested for prowling in a Wauwatosa neighborhood last week.

According to Wauwatosa police:

The 16-year-old from Milwaukee was found after a resident of the 2600 block of North 66th Street saw him looking into vehicles in the alley at 11:39 a.m. Sept. 2.

He had a watch, MP3 player and cell phone in his pocket, but his mother said he didn't own any of those items.

He had been at Children's Court that morning and got upset during his hearing for auto theft and ran away. A probation agent found him at Harmonee and Wauwatosa avenues, but he refused to get into the vehicle.

The agent gave the teen a bus ticket to get home. When he didn't show up, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
