Lauren Graupner and Steven Gant were married Aug. 1, 2009, at St. John's Military Academy in Waukesha.

Parents of the bride are Charles and Deborah Graupner of Wauwatosa. Parents of the groom are Lee Gant of Fairfield, Iowa, and Aaron and Juli Waugh of Fairfield.

The ceremony was followed by a reception at the Crowne Plaza in Wauwatosa.

Maid of honor was Laura Hackett of Milwaukee, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Teresa Duffey of Chicago, Becky Davenport of Gainesville, Fla., and Andrea Laake of Davenport, Iowa.

Best man was Tim Hullerman of Iowa City, Iowa. Groomsmen were Matt Gant of Fairfield, John Holley of Fairfield and Matt Dorothy of Ankeny, Iowa.

The bride, who earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in biomedical engineering from the University of Iowa, is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Iowa.

The groom, who earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Iowa, is a production engineer at Monsanto.

The couple met their freshman year at the University of Iowa. The groom proposed before being deployed to Iraq with the Iowa National Guard. When he returned, the couple fell in love all over again.

They honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, for one week.

They reside in Muscatine, Iowa.
