Albert A. "Umberto" Novara of Wauwatosa died April 23, 2009, at age 91.

He was a veteran of World War II and worked for many years in the advertising industry.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra (nee Gerard); children, Ray Novara and Carol Garcia Novara; grandchildren, Jane (Brian) Howell, Paul Novara, Michele Novara, Julie (Lane) Flickenger, Sean Machlan, Cory Machlan and Araceli Garcia; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Janelle, Alexandria, Edward, Amanda, Katy, Alesha and Justin; mother-in-law, Evelyn Gerard; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor; daughter-in-law, Dorothy; brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Philip and Frank "Hank" Novara; and sisters, Mary Ales and Angela "Angie" Bailey.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wauwatosa. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.

Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.

Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services handled the arrangements.
