Corrine Erna Nelson

Corrine Erna Nelson (nee Salzman) of Wauwatosa died Feb. 16, 2009, at age 93.

She was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Nicholas Senn High School. She married Al in December 1942, and together they traveled throughout the U.S. during his service in the Army Air Corps. After World War II, they returned to Chicago, living there until they and their children relocated to Wauwatosa in 1959.

She was a homemaker and an active member in bridge clubs and golf and bowling leagues. She was a long-time member and an officer of the Wauwatosa Woman's Club and she remained active with the Wauwatosa Newcomer's Club for many years. She was a docent at the Frederick Pabst Mansion. She was a faithful member of the Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Robert) Roediger of Rochester, Minn., and Gary (Patricia) Nelson of Maplewood, N.J.; grandchildren, Jane Nelson and Emily Roediger; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer A. (Al) Nelson; and sister, June (David) Thomas.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, in the chapel at Harwood Place, 8220 Harwood Ave., Wauwatosa. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m.

Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Home Foundation, 7500 W. North Ave.; Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, 1529 Wauwatosa Ave.; or Wauwatosa Woman's Club, 1626 Wauwatosa Ave.

Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services handled the arrangements.
