Catherine A. Stemper (nee Cox) died at her Wauwatosa home Jan. 16, 2009, at age 88.
She was born on June 27, 1920, in Wautoma to John A. and Sophy P. Cox. She graduated from Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee and attended Marquette University. She married Robert A. Stemper on Dec. 21, 1942.
Stemper is survived by her husband; children, Thomas (Karen) Stemper of Egg Harbor, William (Nancy) Stemper of Philadelphia, John (Cindy) Stemper of Minneapolis, and Susan (Doug) Reed of Barrington, Ill., 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Gonring of West Bend, and brother, Thomas (Patricia) Cox of Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Geraldine Keane of Milwaukee and Mary Smith of Freeport, Ill.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at San Camillo Chapel on Jan. 21. Burial was at St. Mary's Visitation Cemetery in Elm Grove.
Memorials to the St. Camillus Foundation or the Jesuit Partnership are suggested.
