Jack H. Stockinger of Wauwatosa died Dec. 17, 2008, at age 83.

He was born Dec. 12, 1925. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II as a machinist's mate and an underwater demolition specialist. He worked for 17 years as a maintenance engineer for Pfizer Corp. and was a 50-year member of the Henry Palmer F. & A. M. Lodge 301.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lura (nee Rieken); children, Jean (Charles) Collins, Janet (Kenneth) Vetter and Judy (Bryan) Ward; grandchildren, Charles and Margaret Collins, Melissa (Chad) Whittinghill, Andrew and Mark Vetter, and Brandon and Christopher Ward; sister, Joyce (the late Wallace) Manchester; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom (Mary Ann) Stockinger.

Service was Dec. 20. Private interment was at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.

Memorials are suggested to the International Crane Foundation, PO Box 447, Baraboo, WI 53913; or the U.S. Navy Memorial, 1 Arizona Memorial Road, Honolulu, WI 96818.

Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services handled the arrangements.
