Producer will take audience on tour of Garland's career
Award-winning producer and writer John Fricke of New York City will present "Judy Garland in the Movies" at 1 p.m. March 26 at the Hart Park Senior Center, 7300 Chestnut St.
Fricke, a Milwaukee native and graduate of John Marshall High School, will talk about Garland's movie career. The presentation will be accompanied by rare film clips of Garland through the years.
The cost is $7 for senior center members and $12 for nonmembers.
African acrobats will entertain at Wisconsin Lutheran College
Hailing from Africa, the Kenya Safari Acrobats will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 27 at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
This dance troupe takes acrobatics to extremes and offers a unique cultural experience. The performance is a spectacle for the eyes, ears and heart.
The group members learned to be acrobats as children on the beaches of Kenya, as a means to break free from an impoverished country. Now they serve as artistic ambassadors for Kenya as they travel the globe.

Writing series at Mount Mary features memoirist
Mount Mary College will present memoirist Mary Johnson at its "Writers on Writing" seminar at 6:30 p.m. March 27 in Stiemke Hall, located on the second floor of Notre Dame Hall, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway.
Johnson's memoir, "An Unquenchable Thirst: Following Mother Teresa in Search of Love, Service and an Authentic Life," is an autobiography of her time spent with the Missionaries of Charity and her search for meaning.
Johnson joined the Missionaries of Charity at age 19. During her 20-year tenure with the sisters, she studied theology at Regina Mundi, a pontifical institute aggregated to the Gregorian University in Rome, and received a diploma in religious studies, summa cum laude. She had the opportunity to work closely with Mother Teresa.

Floral designers put their spin on museum's artworks
Visit the Art in Bloom show for a docent-led tour of top floral designers' interpretations of various artworks at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
The event is scheduled for March 29. A bus will leave the Hart Park Senior Center, 7300 Chestnut St., at 10:30 a.m. and return at 3 p.m.
The cost is $39 for senior center members and $44 for nonmembers. Lunch will be at Milwaukee Sail Loft.

Recorder society to rehearse at Mount Mary College
The Milwaukee Area Recorder Society will present its monthly workshop from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 1 at Mount Mary College, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway.
Louise Austin, national recorder clinician, will lead the group in rehearsing selections in genres from Renaissance to contemporary. New members are welcome.
