Friday Morning Music
If you happen to be old like me you would remember this local group and their first album.
Released in the spring of 1986 - by T-Bone Burnett via Slash Records - the rendition of this tune comes to you via Austin, Texas.
Let's make Tosa more "walk-friendly" for pedestrians

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the great Northwest, including Seattle, Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. It had been years since I had been in Canada. In fact, the last time I stepped foot in “America’s hat,” I was still a teenager and not able to pick up on the subtle differences between our countries.
Guess The Critter
Never plant an elderberry bush before you plan for how big they'll actually get.
Or how they'll spread by root suckers.
Wish I could think of a better headline
Hi everyone- sorry for the delay between postings- here is a sampling of excuses.

Wauwatosa Crime Stoppers Seeking Community Minded People
The Wauwatosa Crime Stoppers need you! The Crime Stoppers is a volunteer board that serves to deter and prevent crime in the City of Wauwatosa. The board accomplishes this goal by advertising cash rewards for information leading to an arrest, fund raising so that there is cash to pay out when warranted and finally voting to approve pay out of reward money. The Crime Stoppers board meets for an hour on the first Tuesday of every month and has two major fund raisers, the extremely popular and successful Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast held every Mother's Day at Hart Park and our annual "Shredding Day" every September in which citizens can bring personal papers and such for proper destruction.
This is an opportunity to meet people from the community as well as surrounding communities; help to keep Wauwatosa the safe place it is and get an inside look at your Police Department.
In order to become a member of the Wauwatosa Crime Stoppers you only have to meet the following four criteria:
- Be a Wauwatosa resident or own a business, work for a business or own real estate in the City of Wauwatosa or otherwise have a vested interest in the community.
- Be at least 18 years of age.

The Magic Curb - Fifth Senate District Version
It always strikes me as amusing at how purposefully Girlfriend leads the way when she is going on a 'city walk'.
Initially anyhow.

This is the oldest I've ever been
This is the blogpost that I really shouldn’t write. Instead, I should stick to writing about crosswalks or restaurants or something somewhat innocuous. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment because I’m coming right out and saying: “Look at me, I’m 50.” That’s right. On October 15th, I am hitting the big five-oh.
Gulp. I have to admit. That’s tough to say. See, here’s the deep dark secret that you young people don’t realize: “Psssst. We old people still THINK we’re young. We might look old, but this aging thing is totally kicking our butts.”
Camp Meat
If I am not mistaken the term Camp Meat refers to the alleged practice of shooting a deer, skipping the step of registering it and butchering it for general camp consumption.
That practice is forbidden here. Nonetheless, since I believe I am the interim camp cook I fret over how we're going to feed ourselves here at camp. I've been puttering in the kitchen this morning assembling a couple of pheasant pot pies. I deboned a pair of of Dakota birds along with garden squash, potatoes, peas and more.
Position In The Food Chain

Yesterday afternoon I was observing all of the birds in this planting of prairie grass.
A Model of Efficiency
For a spell I was concerned that the day job and some other projects had put a serious crimp on fall hunting opportunities.
An early gun hunt with Lawyer, Mennonite and Braumeister dispelled that notion.
Friday Morning Music
It is the close of the work week people.
How about one of my favorite John Prine tunes...

Gas Pains Talks With The Candidates For The Fifth Senate Seat
For a spell it was looking like this wasn't going to happen.
I have been here, there and everywhere on the road lately. Oh man...on the road can be tiresome.
Village Vision
What an exciting time to be a resident of Wauwatosa. In the last few years we have seen some fantastic additions to our community- the renovation of Hart Park, the Rotary public performance pavilion, a farmers market that seems to get better each week, groundbreaking for a fantastic new pool and many new businesses small and large offering great places to eat, shop and play.
On November 2nd and 3rd at 5:30 in the Muellner Building at Hart Park, there will be public input workshops regarding the future of one of our most coveted assets- the Village area of Wauwatosa. To get involved visit
Trick or Treat Safety Tips
Every year we are reminded about Trick or Treat safety, and yes, this year I am going to remind you yet again. Please take a few moments to review the list and discuss the appropriate items with your children before venturing out in search of sugary treats.

Just received word that the Griffey Center at St. Bernard is COMPLETELY packed with great items! Sullivan and Vukmir - The BudgetThe State of Wisconsin’s budget seems a frightful mess to me with all of the accounting tricks and sleight-of-hand measures seemingly exhausted. The next Governor and Legislature are going to have their hands-full in balancing the State’s books. This is a multi-part question. Do you expect that cuts to the budget will have to occur? |
