I'm the last person to jump on the slippery-slope BS argument, but at the end of the day, somebody in our government has to make a decision on these things. Is fighting Aldi a bit extreme? Yeah, probably, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. If you disagree with where that line is drawn, the more power to you!

I wouldn't mind an Aldi, but I don't want a strip club, or a payday loan store (which was kept out of East Towne Tosa but our dev. comittee). I'm glad to know someone is out there making an effort to align local business with the electorate, even if they are misguided from time to time.

I agree, the cemetary thing is ridiculous.

Good column. I agree with you that there's a place for restricting problematic businesses, but Aldi really doesn't fit into that category. I think that it will be an asset to the community. I also agree that Brookfield's actions in denying the Wisconsin Memorial Park the right to use its Family Center for weddings and other social events is inappropriate.
