Gas Pains
Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.
Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.
Letter From a War Criminal
Recognize this guy?
Yep - Radovan Karadzic
This is the wartime leader of the Bosnian Serbs. He faces a United Nations tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for the second time today to answer to charges of war crimes.
He was captured last year in Belgrade after spending more than a decade hiding-out from the authorities.
Anyway, sixteen years ago he and I had a polite correspondence.
I stuffed that letter in a file a couple of houses ago and it's followed me through several moves. My wife resurrected it a couple of weeks ago to take to her book club discussion of Pretty Birds.
I've been known to save all sorts of weird stuff over the years - but this is one ghoulish souvenir.
