The NFL has sent a letter to the Rosebud theater stating it can not show the Packers games on its big screen anymore. WHAT??
According to the NFL, the Rosebud is violating the NFL copyright laws by having mass - out - of home viewing. It states that the NFL only licenses games to be shown in homes so that the stations can gather viewer hip numbers and the stations can charge for advertising based on those numbers. By showing games in mass - out - of home viewings it skews the numbers and the stations could lose out on advertising dollars. I understand thats how they make their money. Sounds like to me the NFL should decide on how to capture these viewer numbers instead of coming off as greedy. Its the fans that have made the league what it is today. REALLY!!
The Rosebud did not charge people to come in and watch the games on the "big" screen, nor did they state that you had to purchase any food or beverages from them. Just come and watch the games, for free!!. Its a nice place to watch games, with the comfortable couches and the family friendly atmosphere. The couple times I watched a game there with my daughter, the Rosebud, didn't mind her bringing in a sub sandwich or her own snacks while we watched the game together. Yet the NFL does not have a problem with sports bars showing the games on their TV's. In fact the NFL policy states that bars and taverns that show sports in their establishments on a daily basis are exempt. How do they capture those viewers numbers??
It is about time the NFL starts paying better attention to its fans!! Another interesting point in the NFL policy, only the NFL can use the term "SUPER BOWL" unless they grant permission to you to use that term.
The Playoff Schedule:

Interesting point, in both conferences the 5 seed is playing at the 1 seed and the 3 seed is playing at the 2 seed.
