Gas Pains
Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.
Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.
Raincoat Anyone?
I'm a little achy tonight.
I curled over at the Tosa Curling Club last night and tonight and I'm finally feeling it. Getting in my groove.
Tunneling Under Tosa
A week or so before deer camp I was driving down Bluemound Road on the way to the day job when I spied a curious piece of machinery. It was a gigantic tubular thing that had an equally giant (but festively-painted) cutting head.
I’m thinking - It’s certainly not part of a rocket booster or a carnival ride. It’s probably a tunneling machine.
Keeping the Green in Christmas
Yeah - you're thinking I'm going to rant about the commercialization of Christmas.
Only partly.
Killing Time in the Kitchen
My wife and i have a pretty good thing going. She likes to bake while I like to cook.
Baking is a tough business. Yeasts, flours, soda and powders all have to be administered in exacting doses. Any deviation from the precise formulas and disaster is just around the corner.
Bring it On
One of the very first things I did when I moved to Tosa was to purchase a brand-new, shiny red Toro snow blower from the nice people over at Speedway Sales and Service on North Avenue.
That blower has thrown a pile of snow over the years. Three houses and twenty-five years of snow.
