Hello, Wauwatosa
Hello, Wauwatosa.
As if I don't have enough to do, I've decided to write an occasional blog to share my thoughts with you, as a Wauwatosa alderman and concerned citizen, about issues affecting my hometown that just aren't getting fully discussed elsewhere.
The Prettiest Street in the World
When I was a boy, I thought Wauwatosa Avenue was the prettiest street in the world.
I grew up on Rogers Avenue, just two houses west of the Lowell Damon House, and used Wauwatosa Avenue as my path to elementary school, junior high, and high school as well as to church and the Village. I delivered newspapers on Wauwatosa Avenue and such beautiful side streets as Stickney Avenue and Watson Avenue. The old homes on Wauwatosa's grandest street were shaded by a canopy of American elm trees, and the church bells seemed to sing out all day long.
