A military brat, Robyn found home sweet home here in Wauwatosa. Moving here in 1989, "just till the kids get settled," she found the Milwaukee area hard to leave and a great place to put down roots. Join her as she tries to handle and make sense of whatever curves life decides to throw.
"The Hurrier I Go the Behinder I Get". My mother has a trivet with this saying on it in the kitchen where I grew up. A souvenir from a trip to (her quote marks) "the Pennsylvania Dutch Country". Not only did it make me think people in PA talked strangely, it got burned into my brain with daily viewing. Did it sink in?
Well, not for the first half of my life. Teen years - I couldn't go fast enough. Grow, move, laugh, cry, touch, feel, run - hurry up and try on all the personas of who I wanted to become. My 20's - maybe not rushing as much but still having a lot to prove. School, career, dating, marriage, friends - my life revolved around, well...me. My 30's - hey let's have kids. What a great idea! And it was great. But all of a sudden there was definitely no time for me (who?) and the passing years sped into a blur. Play dates morphed into soccer games, band practice, dancing lessons, drivers permits and college tuitions. And I filled all the cracks with jobs, errands, pets and the million little things we do to keep ourselves way too busy.
