Making Last Minute Labor Day Plans?

Sullivan, Labor Day, Wisconsin Department of Tourism, travel, biking

This Labor Day weekend promises to be a fruitful one for the tourism industry. AAA Wisconsin reports that in Wisconsin, more than 734,000 people are expected to travel. That’s a 10.8 percent increase over 2009. 19,000 of those travelers will be going by air, while an estimated 688,000 are expected to drive to their destinations.

If you haven’t planned a major car trip yet, there’s no need to feel left out. You don’t need four wheels for a Labor Day getaway, especially in Wisconsin. Here, it only takes two wheels. We’re considered one of the most bicycle-friendly states in the nation, with good reason: Wisconsin led the way on building modern bike trails by being one of the first states to convert railways to multiuse paths. According to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, we now lead the nation with more than 1,000 miles of trails, including the Elroy-Sparta State Trail and the Hank Aaron Trail, which cuts right through the 5th Senate District.

Wisconsin also boasts more than 10,000 miles of bicycle-friendly roadways, and nearly 60 state and county parks and forests offer off-road mountain biking opportunities. And when you travel in Wisconsin, your tourism dollar directly benefits the small businesses that make up the majority of our tourism sector—which benefits our entire economy.

Lisa Marshall from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism told me that “whatever your riding interest, Wisconsin is a true world-class biking destination.” I couldn’t agree more, Lisa.

Below is a list of upcoming events and rides the Department of Tourism shared with me:

  1. Well OK then.

Proceeding apace senator, I sure that you must have firmed up your campaign schedule by now. So would you be kind enough to reveal to us, your adoring fans, when you plan to conduct your town hall meetings?

I am so looking forward to meeting you and dialoging about the issues of the day.

If you'll wear your toastNtaters outfit, I'll wear my Santa's Elf getup.

    See you there, senator!

  4. Go ahead Pad - tell satan your secret so we can dispense with him for a week. The senator has important business to tend to and cannot be distracted by all of these cat calls for the democratic process.
  5. Let's make a deal!

You tell me which radio station hosted the on-air point-counter point with Sullivan and Vukmir, and if I can verify the veracity of your response (or as I'm sure Mort would say: 'tell if your telling the truth') I'll stay off this blog for an entire week? And that's no matter what Sully and his gnomes post.
  6. There goes Mortified again, demostrating that the stereotype I have for all you liberal guttersnipers is alive and well. Rather than post even moderately interesting content about Senator Sullivan's merits to win a 2nd term, bike riding in Wisconsin, or any other LEGISLATIVE RELATED topic, she resorts to her traditional time-tested old boring rhetoric of slamming people who disagree with her. Typical flaming liberal.

Mortified: I go online during my lunch hour which typically happens around noon give-or-take. I was on vacation on the 3rd. You posted at 2:04pm today. Were you on vacation today or something? If not, seems like an awfully long 'lunch hour' to me. Chirp, chirp, chirp.

What are your thought on Senator Sullivan's refusal to do anything to address voter fraud in Wisconsin in the 4 years that he's been our Senator? Chirp, chirp, chirp. Man, those crickets are getting loud, aren't they, SantasElf?

Every day that goes by makes me more convinced that Senator Sullivan doesn't really want a 2nd term, but he feels if he withdraws his name from the race, he'll look like a loser among his loyal liberal constituents. This is a likely reason why he doesn't feel any need to respond to DIRECT questions about HIS conduct in Madison as our Senator.

Based on the near record turnout on yesterday's PRIMARY election, it's clear that people are royally ticked off at the incumbent party in Madison and DC. This cannot be a good omen any way you look at it come GENERAL election day for Senator Sullivan, can it? I'm doing my best to ensure that Senator Sullivan's wish of not winning a 2nd term comes true. You're welcome, Senator. You should really pay me for all the research and work I do on your behalf for your campaign, Senator. ;)
  7. Mort, thanks for the spanking! Do you do other kinky things, or is this it? Either way I don't believe I'd pay for your services when I can get Sullivan for nothing.

By the way, how is it that a hard working adult like yourself has time to post comments on a blog during work hours?

Frankly you could be rid of me on this blog forever. Just tell me when and where Sully will hold his next public town hall meeting so that interested constituents could dialogue with his highness? That really cannot be asking too much. Especially in an election year.

Boy, you people are both odd and stubborn.

    Ok toastNtaters, it's your turn!
  8. 85 entries on this post! For what purpose except for self-aggrandizement and juvenile harassment? If the posts were halfway clever or amusing they'd be worth reading or responding too. Stubborn and Santa don't you get sick of yourselves? Don't you work?

Don't even respond to these tired, boring, repetitious old men.
  9. Stubborn Old Man. I haven't said you have been right or wrong on any of your viewpoints. I just don't think you really want your questions answered if you don't contact the Senator's office. You obviously know the questions you ask won't be answered directly on this blog. But, if you wanted to prove to others on this blog that you simply want questions answered why don't you do this. Post on this blog the question you emailed to Senator Sullivan. When he responds, post what he says. Otherwise you are just ripping on the Senator for not responding to questions you apparently don't want answered.
  10. tosaoutsider: Yes, but to expand upon your very insightful analogy, that same 3-year old CANNOT decide that they want new parents. That's where your analogy falls apart. I'm giving the dumb voters who read this blog some things to consider before they cast their vote. Us dumb voters CAN decide whether we want to keep our 'old' Senator or whether we want a 'new' Senator in a few weeks. You said that many of my questions to the Senator have already been answered by him. Prove it! Name a few that he's answered publicly on this blog. You can't because you're wrong about that statement.

Padraig: I DO ask my kids nicely without any threats or shouting, just to prove that I can play their game. They still don't do it. It's more of a case where they just don't wanna do it. I'm giving Senator Sullivan every chance to elaborate on various LEGISLATIVE RELATED issues that he's been involved with as our Senator. I'll keep trying. I want everybody who votes to learn as much as possible about both candidates. What's wrong with that? You don't want the election determined by a bunch of mindless idiotic dumb voters casting countless fraudulant votes, do you? I don't.

GoTosa: Thank you for your condescending offer of assistance. Why do you think I view Senator Sullivan with any hatred? You suggest that I would even CONSIDER calling him a "moron" since that's typically what liberals like you do to people with whom they disagree. I don't think Sullivan's a "moron" at all. Quite the contrary. I simply have a stark philosophical difference with him on many things and I want him to publicly tell me where I'm wrong and discredit me where appropriate.

I'm a fair-minded guy capable of independent thought (unlike some on this blog). If Senator Sullivan, or anybody else for that matter, can show me WHY I'm wrong about my viewpoints and BACK IT UP with empirical evidence, I'll vote to re-elect Senator Sullivan. So far, that hasn't happened. I'm still waiting.
